There are many reasons to visit Richmond our beautiful market town in Swaledale so we created this ten day walking and book festival to give you an opportunity to experience just a few of them. Books & Boots, Walks & Words offers a choice of activities and events that are good for the body, intellect and soul. Whether you're attracted by the walking or the books you'll discover Richmond is a great place to be.
Have a good read through the brochure and make your choices. We've walks from 12 mile hikes to literary and historical strolls. You can meet writers, musicians and poets, see films and slideshows, enjoy a literary lunch, discover how to write your family memoir, or get your book published. There are books and boots, walks and words to buy and try - along with a selection of locally produced cheeses, beer, ice cream, and fudge. You can even apply to be a 'test pilot/walker' for two new Altberg boots currently in development.
Have a good read of what's on offer and book your events in advance or call in to either Richmond Tourist Information or Castle Hill Bookshop to buy your tickets in person. You can also get tickets on the door if places are available.
As for the rest of the programme we're busy putting that together and hope to be able to offer an interesting mix of writers, adventurers, politicians, storytellers, plus films, slideshows and other allied events.
We look forward to reconnecting with participants from past festivals and welcoming new ones to Richmond and sharing some of its delights with you.
